This
is our first spouse night for Rotary year 2016-2017 and I welcome all Rotarians
and their Spouses.
We
also have our Sister Club the Rotary Club of Dau. We are glad they have visited
us despite the terrible weather we are experiencing.
It
is time we can share our projects with them so they can also participate in
some way. We have so far have decided on the following:
·
Libreng
Pustiso and Bunot will be scheduled
times for this RY
·
3,000
PhP fund for every disaster relief.
·
Feeding Program for 2 Schools monthly
·
Car
Sticker in Commemoration of the 100Th year of the Rotary Foundation
·
Tree Planting at the Lung Center this December
I
have always encouraged participation not just from our members but also from
our spouses. RC Biak na Bato will evolve into a dynamic club established by
three of its foundation, the Initiative to serve, opportunistic to serve and
with sacrifice to create greater value on its service.

I’m
proud that we have already a policy for our club to contribute 3,000 for
disaster relief. It’s a small price but it may be a big support to families in
need. This will be automatic for every disaster as the Community chairman will
spearhead this. It is nice to know that our club will be involve in helping
disaster victims.
Below
is a reprint as we have not discussed it due to the absences of some committee
chairman.
In
line with our presentation during our Governors visit, we clearly emphasize
this objective on our community service “To increase humanitarian projects and
to support RI and the districts thrust in promoting the 6 areas of focus
namely:
1. Peace and Conflict Resolution
2. Disease and prevention and treatment
3. Water and Sanitation
4. Maternal and Child Health
5. Basic education and literacy
6. Economic and Community development

For
the past days we have experienced terrible weather conditions that cause
disaster to the lives of many Filipino families many of whom lives in Quezon City
needs our help. I am pleading to the members of RC Biak na Bato to provide any
aid that may bring relief to our fellow men.
The
weather condition is expected to continue to the next days and people from
other districts and clubs took their initiatives to provide aids. I have posted
messages in our Viber regarding this matter and only one person from the club
called to help. We are 32 strong members and only one replied. We are far from
being a dynamic club based on this.
Rotary
is Service, this has been the point of many of the seminars I went through. I
envisioned our club to be an empathic society, I envisioned our club to be a
model of service and this is the time to serve, we rotarians of RC Biak na Bato
will serve.

“Empathy
has been the key for our human nature. We empathize because we feel each
other’s plight. We care because we understand their situation and we serve
because we know what they need. Rotary has broken barriers of our empathy and
has opened the opportunity to serve anyone in the world who needs True Service.
RC Biak na Bato is an Empathic Society!”
This
month is the Membership and New Club Development Month and we will evaluate
completed activities in comparison with our objectives and action plans.
In
summing up of the three foundation of a dynamic club, we have Initiative,
Opportunistic and Sacrifice. With all of these three imparted with our club we
will expect fulfillment of the commitments of our club to its district and its
individual establish mission.
We
have already discussed initiative and opportunistic as part of the foundation
of a dynamic club, group or organization. The last but not the least is
“Sacrifice”. In serving, there is always a corresponding sacrifice. We
sacrifice time, money and our expertise without expecting anything in return.
Service has limited value without any sacrifice. Level of sacrifice corresponds
with the level of commitment to serve.
There
are persons who has regularly suggested, commented and volunteered other person’s
services. It is now time for us members of RC Biak na Bato to go beyond this
actions but to take charge by sacrificing their time, money and efforts in our
plans and programs that we have committed to our governor.

I
have discussed last week about “initiative” as one of the three foundation of a
dynamic club, group or organization. The next is “Opportunistic” for us
Rotarians it is being “Opportunistic to Serve” meaning we should take every
opportunity to serve in any standing or role.
And
in this light I would like to take this opportunity to ask for each member of
RC Biak-na-Bato to suggest, contribute and volunteer services or resources for
our community service objectives. If we have any relationship or association
that we can use for us to meet the objectives then please present them. These
are opportunities for us to service and we don’t want to miss them. Thank You.

We
had a fairly successful celebration of the clubs 35th Induction
Ceremonies and I would like to thank everyone who participated. Everything was
made solemn and unforgettable. We the members of RC biak-na-bato should be
proud of that event.
Now,
the event is over and it’s now time to start to do the deeds, it’s now time to
start planning the “Serving Humanity” part of our mandate. Today we will
calendar and schedule the activities of our programs and projects. We have to
discuss the strategies, logistics needed and the persons in charge to handle
such programs and projects. This is the reason why we exist and we will
continue to make an impact to the society through this programs and projects.
I would like to formally welcome our new
members to their first regular meeting and first fellowship with the legendary
members of RC Biak-na-Bato. By
continually participating and attending the regular meeting we will have more
things to accomplish.
Lastly,
I would like to talk about one of the three foundation of a dynamic club or
group or organization. Initiative is the ability to assess and initiate things
independently. Wikipedia also says that Initiative is an opportunity to act or
take charge before others. Based on my experience in handling large group this
is important in making it dynamic. Initiative is when one member will take charge
or act in behalf of the group especially when there is a need to. The result is the timely and effective action
on that matter.
I
will give authority on club matters to persons with initiative, and I encourage
you to do this. Thank You.
